The Manolis episode

This one was a bit different than what we've had before. But that's to be expected, he's from an older generation and would have different issues. I can't say it enough about the acting, LM was superb! Of course he's a lot younger than the character. I found it a bit hard to believe he and his family haven't seen those people, his friends, for about 30 years. Seems unusual given that mixing with their community would be important when socializing. I'm not sure I got what his back story is, is there supposed to be one so we understand his character better. Isn't that the point of the others?

I agree that Lex Marinos is superb in this series. His face tells a 1000 stories. (Unfortunately whenever I see him, I still think of Bruno from "Kingswood Country".)

I think that tonight's episode is more about what he regrets - the loss of his sexual power, and his happy & carefree past (from when he first came to Australia as a single man), and even his choice of wife, based on hearing her sing!!

I think the point of this ep also is to provide a contrast with how the younger Greek men, such as Harry & Hector, run their lives. Manolis values the traditions, regardless of whether they still work for him or not, while Hector & Harry live their lives as Australians first, and Greek men somewhere down the list.

I used to think that too but I actually met him a couple of years ago and of course he's nothing like that. Maybe he was a good actor then too but you wouldn't have thought so!
