Sophie Okonedo - kudos to her....
I knew she was a great actor, but how many Brits can pull off an Aussie accent as she has done? I can only think of Kate Winslet in `Holy Smoke'.

isnt Aisha meant to be Muslim/Indian?
shareI don't get the impression she's either, no hijab or sari! I think she's just Australian (not Aboriginal), of course she has dark skin so her family's origins are elsewhere. Th actress is British and she does a good job of sounding Aussie.
shareI am sure Aisha was Muslim, esp since the name is Arabic
I just didnt think Aisha was Nigerian.....i dont think anyone did, not even the writer.
I don't know what she is deemed to be in the book, because I haven't read it, but so far nothing has been mentioned about it in the show.
Edit: I haven't watched tonight's show yet, is it covered?
Actually she has a Hindu background, but is atheist.
Me and Brits are done with story time and we wants to get our recess on

Yup just re read it, she is Indian I was right. I'm stunned and very disappointed they couldn't find a single Indian actress to play here, it's rather offensive
shareAisha in the book is Indian but in the Aisha episode she says that she's half Indian, half Mauritian.
