Reminded me of Grey Gardens (1975)
Dreams of a Life makes a good companion piece to the Maysles documentary, Grey Gardens (1975). Both these brilliant films deal with themes of withdrawal, unfullfilled dreams, isolation and neglect. They are also constructed in a way that leaves the viewer haunted and wanting to know more about how an individual could end up in such circumstances.
In Kidman's case, it's nice to see her lately immovable forehead participating in her performance - Rabbit Hole Review, Variety.
