it takes milliseconds to raise a gun and fire it. luke was sitting in the window with his gun in his hand. i dont know why he still had the gun in his hand if he was planning on surrendering. police look to protect their own lives as well as others. some of you seem to think that an officer has to get shot at first before he can discharge his weapon. which means you want more dead cops. i dont get it

if luke didnt want to die he should have tossed the gun away, not sit in the room with it in his hand waiting for the police. he was either being stupid, or he was planning on killing whoever came through the door, either way the shooting was justified

It was a tricky situation. When ever a cop is in pursuit of a fleeing criminal in possession of a deadly weapon, deadly force is authorized.

Did he follow all the right procedures? No, but I still think it was justifiable and making sure the official statement goes by the book so no questions is ask is fine.

If you just robbed a bank and you still have the gun in your hand you will get shot. Throw away the gun if you don't want anyone to shoot at you.
