What a catastrophe. There have to be at least twenty times during this movie when any normal person would have done exactly the opposite of what John does. Seeing him do one stupid thing after another made this completely unbearable to watch.
shareJohn was just a nice (dumb, as Jackson calls him) guy. Yes, probably he didn't do things like a "normal" guy in certain situations. But thats who he was, he did not have guts to say "NO" or face his boss or face his wife, anyone. He is a dumb guy (You can think of him as scared or gutless or naive or something like that). And there are people like that in this world.
The only reason Samuel doesnt kill him is because Samuel hates rude, ignorant, insensitive people (like the "girl" at the gas pump or the lady in the mobile store). John went out to help with his car, pushed his car and somewhere along the way Samuel decided not to kill him but show him "What it is to be a real man".
