Travolta won't top Assante.

Assante was perfectly over the top as Gotti. He was also perfectly calm and emotional when necessary. He also looked close enough that it was genuinely convincing. Travolta looks NOTHING like John Gotti. And all of his recent performances have been trash and over the top in all the wrong ways. Hell purposely chew scenery as Gotti, probably make a complete mockery of the role. Calling it not but if this is made it will only serve as a film to compare to the far superior Gotti with Assante.

i have to agree
Assante did a great john Gotti..he basically played the same role in American Gangster as the mafia boss..
I think the HBO film shot in the early 90's on a shoestring budget will be far superior to this new one..
Anthony Quinn as Dellacroce was spot on and Richard Sarafian as Big Paul was perfect..Chaz Palmientierri already sucked as Big paul in the
he TBS movie..casting him is a joke for this part..

however im still no doubt gonna give this film a look and keep an open mind doing so

Wasn't Pacino going to play Big Paul now that would have been an acting job. I know Pacino can play anyone, but playing Big would have been a Stretch even for Al.

Stole mines and everyone else thunder lol AA will never be duplicated! I think the end of the movie when he goes on his "u don't rat" rant was Emmy worthy. He may have been nominated but anyway I like JT but this role was already signed sealed and delivered!

You're so right about that. Asante, IMO, gave one of the best performances I've seen period. It's a shame that it only came out as an hbo movie because I put that movie and assante's performance up against any mob movie and when I say "any" I mean *beep* any......godfather, casino, goodfellas......it was just as good as any of those. And armad's performance was so good he is John gotti to me. When I watch that movie I get so lost in his performance I feel like I'm watching gotti himself. The part where he talks to the black gang leader is classic. When the black leader says, "and who tha *beep* are you". Assante's says "john gotti". I get *beep* pumped up just thinking about that part.
