How does all that work? Did he still pay for the rest of the term? How much does claim owner get vs the worker (Todd)? Was all that equipment the claim owners? Todd just left it or rented?

I'm sure there is a minimum they had to pay plus a percentage of the gold they collect on the claim. As long as they pay that minimum they aren't in breach.
