It's a scripted clown show. Hoffman is paid by Discovery to dig and move dirt, run pipe, and pump water while saying "I think we are in the pay dirt now". Tony and Schnozzel are the real deal. Tony and his dredge is a real money maker. Meanwhile Todd is digging a hole to China.

shareThe Beets family (or any of the other operations) aren't in Alaka. In spite of the big US flag seen on Scnabel's quad, all the claims are in the Yukon Territory, Canada. That's why you don't see those Hoffman idiots strutting around with guns like they did in the first couple of seasons shot in Alaska. Now that the Hoffman's are back in the US. Dunno how they've resisted re-arming themselves now they're back in the US.
