The Hoffmans are still my favorite

The Hoffmans are the originals of the show and have been through the most adversity. They've obviously made some questionable decisions on mining locations and arguably are not the wisest of the miners on this show, but I still like how the core group of guys stick together when times are tough.

Parker and Tony are simply jerks that belong together and I have never really gotten into their stories, other than when Grandpa John was around.

Todd's jokes last episode were funny when he said "It's 10,500 feet man, the elevation's killing us. Of course.... 3 millions cheeseburgers didn't help. You know what I'm saying?" A minute later.... "That's always been my problem; my hose is too short."

Todd is a clown.

And his act worn thin years ago.

Yeah that was funny. But I'm not a Hoffman fan. The praying really bugs me .... asking God to help you find gold, really? You can't think of anything more noble to pray for, like world peace or starving children? God has better things to do than help you find gold. Find it yourself.

Yes Todd had the idea for the show, but the first couple seasons his disregard for safety was not good. Backing the trucks up in the dark with no spotter and being a dik. Soo many many bad decisions. Imho young Parker has just as much regard for his workers as Todd if not more. I like the show. Freddy Dodge and Gene Chisman are smart, and would be excellent to work with.

I kind of think without Hoffman you really don't have a show. Without a bumbling miner, who would watch this? His mistakes are the highlight of the show. 

I got a kick out of Todd's cheeseburger comments, too.

With that said, Todd has to be the dumbest person on that show. I don't say unluckiest, but dumbest, as half of the decisions he makes turn out to be the stupidest decisions, and many times he's told that by others in his crew before they even implement his decisions.

He's not unlikeable or anything, and I've got nothing against him, but he sure is a dipshoot when it comes to decision making. He, himself, sabotages his crew more than everything else combined.
