Bre-X

Does anyone know if this is the Bre-X story?

Thanks.

If that's the case then all one has to do is look up the case on Wikipedia. Spoils the movie imo.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

You can't spoil real life.

Trump can.

The villainy you teach me I will execute-and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.

Trump baby! Drain the swamp.

You'd have to extremely naive and slow-witted to believe work ethics and ideals are the missing piece to our cultural and sociology-economic puzzle.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

reply

It is based off of it. No idea why they changed the names and Calgary to Reno, though.

reply

Probably because though the two guys who were central to the story have since died, they must have wives & kids with lawyers on hand.

What is little known is that at the same time in Canada, another company, Bre, actually discovered a large cheese mine and is now a minor Canadian success story.

Sorry, that was cheesy.

reply

I think they actually discovered cheese deposits, not a cheese mine.

And, of course, after making this discovery they celebrated by salting the cheese they had found before eating it. :D

Yes since I checked Bre-X wiki..... there is one line relate to this movie....

Never forgot about this story....

reply

Yes. They optioned the rights for the story from Diane Francis for her book "BRE-X: The Inside Story". I believe very Liberal Licence has been taken from the actual Bre-X debacle, but that *was* the root of this story.

I’ve heard that there’s another script out there, much better than “Gold”, that tells the true story in exciting detail. They even have the rights to different characters in the story.
