Great Musical choices by David Russell

Loved the soundtrack for this movie. Mostly good rock stuff from the 70's. And he was a master at using it at the right times. And he used Duke Ellington too. Bale & Adams listen to it after they meet & it's playing at the end when u see Bale talking about survival with his eyes on Adams & then on the right note, fade to black.

But what I really like was when they were relatively new at knowing each other & had the electricity going......u see them dancing around to Jack Jones singing "I Got Your Number".

And when they are forced to con the people Coopers character wants them to at the beginning - u hear I don't Want to Do Your Dirty Work. He even slid in some Tom Jones at the right time.

I could go on. But I'll just mention one more. This was from Silver Linings Playbook. The Scene where Cooper & Lawrence are sitting in their dance room with their music & it plays "Girl From the North" which has Bob Dylan singing it halfway through & then Johnny Cash sings the 2nd half. That was a great choice.

Good observations. There is a definite art to soundtrack choices. A director without the deft touch would use something more obvious for these scenes, like "Do It Again" instead of Dirty Work. Something that the audience has heard a thousand times so that we know for sure "ok, this is definitely taking place in the 70s." In case they were still confused.
