Bale's performance is actually better than I thought, especially by the end, but it is really Renner's performance that stands out to me. Great underrated job !

Yeah I agree. I'm watching it for a second time and everyone is stronger than I previously thought, except for Lawrence. She kinda hams it up, but maybe it's just that her character is that way.
But Renner is fantastic in this.
Honestly I do think she was miscast...

shareI only wish Cooper would have made me hate him more so I could enjoy him getting screwed in the end. Looking back I should have hated him more but I think he's just too likable of an actor.

oh man , Renner was sooo good , he probably had the best performance , then it's Bradley Cooper and miss Adams (and of course De Niro was terrific).
After my first viewing i can tell Bale was underwhelming in this performance! He tried in some parts , and that the end he was very good , but he never impressed me!
I hated Bradley Cooper in this as I do in most of his films. Thought Adams was okay but her accent was appalling. Loved Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence and, of course, Jeremy Renner was great per usual. But it was Christian Bale who made this movie for me. He's a very sexy man!

Geez. Her accent wasn't supposed to be good. She's an American trying to pass as British.
If her accent had been perfect, people would have come out of the woodwork to complain that it was too good for a small-time con artist out of New Mexico.

Renner was the stand out for me too, I actually felt sorry for him at the end.

I liked him before, but thought Tom hanks should've gotten a nomination over him, though I still would have him over Dicaprio, but now I would have him over hanks for captain Phillips too. I also think I would give Renner a nomination over Cooper, but I still loved Jennifer lawrence. She might be a little young, but she was great. I think her character was supposed to be as crazy as she acted, it wasn't just over acting.
