But still, Jennifer Lawrence doesn't have a baby face, she doesn't really look exactly like 23, maybe 28 or even 30, otherwise it would be totally miscast and certainly doesn't deserve oscar nomination, which in fact I still believe it does.
And by the way, I believe Irving cheated on Rosalyn for Sydney is more of a connection thing over sex.
A funny thing is, 35-year-old Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, when I was told by one of the character that she is 21 years old. I was thinking 'HELL NO!'. Age doesn't treat Audrey kind, but I'm still glad that she played the part instead of the original candidate, aka Julie Andrews. I love her but I love Audrey more.
it wasn't about her looks you pig. its because she was crazy and made his life miserable. he only stayed with her because the sex was amazing. but no matter how attractive someone is, if their personality sucks then the attraction fades. not everything is about looks
What a ridiculously naive thing to say. People cheat on their significant others for a bazillion different reasons, and there is no one look that receives that treatment. Jennifer Lawrence's character made her husband miserable. Doesn't matter what she how young or pretty she is, she was nutty. He had a stronger connection to Sydney. That's more common than you think. Real life is more complicated than physical attraction.
The film made a point of Bale's character stating that he married Lawrence's character out of pity. He really wanted someone his own age that he could relate to with more equality. Despite her beauty, he really wasn't attracted to his young wife.
And why laugh? It was clear that Bale was out of Lawrence's league even if he did look like a schmuck most times. Her character was doing whatever it took to keep him chained to her side.
They're playing parts. It's called acting. Jennifer easily passes for older than her real age. Amy doesn't look 40ish. It wasn't hard for me to forget their ages and accept their roles because they have the talent to carry it off.
And let's not assume that a wife has to be an old looking hag and that a lover is always this freshfaced child prostitute. Those are stereotypes. A man could easily fall for someone who's older than his wife. Life isn't as pigeonholed as you're making it.
That is the truth. Most affairs are with a person similar in age to the spouse and most spouses are close in age. This idea that people only cheat with younger more attractive people or that only unattractive people get cheated on is totally false.
