Bad use of music

You can't just use music in every scene, especially the best known tunes from the era. It lessens the power of a scene, if the scene supposed to suspenseful, music ruins it, if romantic, the music cheapens it. Because you know those songs they are distracting. They're also never mixed into a scenery - some scenes have characters sing song, but the music is not heard from set, it's mixed directly into the soundtrack which lessens the authenticity. Overall the music seriously hurt this film, even though it's amazing by itself.

I know exactly what you mean. Yet, the songs are great. Would the scenes really be better without them? Would the movie be as entertaining?

IMO, a definite no.🐭

BUT the use of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" while they are driving to the restaurant where they will meet, to their surprise, Victor Tellegio (DeNiro) and their lark comes to an abrupt end as they confront reality was, I thought, a very good use of a song and a great way to reference another movie.

I just finished it, didn't see it when it was out originally, and I agree with you: by the last third of the movie I was thinking, these music bits are too intrusive.

I ended up liking the movie OK, but it was a long trip to the well, so to speak.

Re: Well, the Trailer with LedZeppelins "Good Time Bad Times" was A++++
However, the Real STINKER in the FILM itself, that SONG was NOT USED,
I guess Led Zeppelin wanted too much $$$$ to have it included in the film
other than the trailer. FOLKS went to SEE the film LARGELY due to the LED
ZEPPELIN song in the Trailer... SO it was a False Advertisement. OF course,
it happens all the time in films especially Lately where Teaser CLIPS in the
trailer are 'not used in the film'. IN IRON Man #2 Trailer, Actor Robert
Downey Jr. tells Gweneth..that 'You Complete me' ..before taking off from a
Building Tower to fight the Bad Guys. Such Phrase was never uttered in the film.
** I Must SaY though, Martin Scorcese did an excellent job with the film 'GOD_FELLAS' by having song after Song and arrogant narration throughout the whole film.

This is so ridiculous. I can't even entertain the idea. Whatever faults you can find with the film, that's NOT one of them. Insanity
