Awwwr man! I'm so glad I watched it!

: When I first heard of this movie I thought it might be good but after seeing the trailer and reading some reviews I sort of backed away from it. I actually thought this was gonna be a heist movie about paintings or a gangster love story that would mimic movies like Casino. Many times I came close to buying it but I always backed away, until this week. Finally, Im really glad I watched it! I am not a fan of the main actors and I never liked Jennifer Lawrence's face (sorry) but all the characters they played (very well) in this movie were highly entertaining and their intricate relationships felt genuine and unique. I especially liked the hateful chemistry between Cooper and Bale. The plot was interesting and unfolded very well with a nice little wrap up in the end. HM to Jeremy Renner, Who played the good but corrupted mayor to perfection. Oh and great soundtrack too! 8/10

It's the marketing because I too was caught up in the hype of a different film. I'm never too sold on Trailers anyways. Plenty of good films look bad and plenty of bad films look good... This was a Romantic Look at the Era and the People within it. It's NOT supposed to be looked at as a "True Story", hence the whole "Some of this actually happened." Yes, it has basis in reality, it's heavily dramatized and purposely so. I like this more with each viewing. I invest in the characters and the emotions. It works for me... But I definitely was expecting something much different, which is all too common nowadays.
