Not just in this movie, but almost in all her other Oscar nominated and winning roles as well. Don't get what's so great about this woman that she is celebrated this much. Sure, she acts ok, but not Oscar worthy IMO.
shareI noted her in The Burning Plain and Winter's Bone. She can have a haunting presence and I really saw her as a rather serious person. Had no idea she would turn out to be so quirky. Silver Linings Playbook was good too I guess, she finally showed her quirky side, but definitely did the better performance in Winter's Bone.

Go ahead and give us one or two young women in Hollywood who you think ARE good actresses, so we can get a sense of what you consider to be talent.
No he just means that for an actress that is hyped up that much, she is not really that outstanding. I am kind of with him on that. She has like a mask-like face and rarely shows emotion well. Unless she has a tear flowing down or she stomps her feet, you would have no idea if she was sad nor angry.
This is apparent in Winter's Bone and the House at the End of the Street.
What really gets people is when aspiring actors, who want to make their big break, are told that they have to take lessons and have all this experience and then you see her perform and it's like "WOW...how the heck did she become so big without any acting experience?" In one of her bios, it is even confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence has absolutely NO acting experience when she went to New York, walked upon a photographer, who then referred her to an agency and she became big.

Definitely overrated. In this particular movie I thought she gave the worst performance out the whole cast.
