No he just means that for an actress that is hyped up that much, she is not really that outstanding. I am kind of with him on that. She has like a mask-like face and rarely shows emotion well. Unless she has a tear flowing down or she stomps her feet, you would have no idea if she was sad nor angry.
This is apparent in Winter's Bone and the House at the End of the Street.
What really gets people is when aspiring actors, who want to make their big break, are told that they have to take lessons and have all this experience and then you see her perform and it's like "WOW...how the heck did she become so big without any acting experience?" In one of her bios, it is even confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence has absolutely NO acting experience when she went to New York, walked upon a photographer, who then referred her to an agency and she became big.
