Glyllenthal Pretending to Be From Hood Fails, Should Have Got Eminem

He played a stereotype rather than something from within because he can't relate to the character like Eminem could of. You can't take a rich, suburban kid like Glyllenthal and make him street. Glyllenthal played his idea of what a person from the street should sound and act like rather than finding the character naturally.

Really should have waited for Eminem to sign on. Movie would have done huge numbers.

Jake Gyllenhaal is a world class actor, Eminem is not.

I wonder if Eminem could have gotten as "ripped" as Jake got. I think he probably could have. Would have been cool to see.💪

reply

Yes. In fact, I believe his class was wasted on this mediocre exercise in stereotypical filmmaking. Role should have gone to Eminem, so people with taste would have ignored it.

You don't need to act when you already know the world, you just go back to it...

QUOTING STRHE

Not only is he a better actor, he had the will to transform his body into a boxers body. I doubt Eminem could do it. I googled some pictures of Eminem and he looks kind of scrawny compared to Jake

Gyllenhaal played what the screenwriters though a poor boy out the hood would be like. He did well, he is a phenomenal actor

reply

He did a decent job, but Eminem would definitely have been more believable.

Believable from the hood everything else would have been a fail

reply

You're right Eminem would have been perfect because he is in boxer shape and a great actor!!

reply

I think you're a *beep* troll.

reply

eminem would have been distracting because he is so damn ghetto!

reply

I wouldn't have bought Eminem as an elite level boxer for even 2 seconds. Jake is a good actor. He did well with the script. He was more believable in this role because he CAN act than Eminem would've been - who can't act. Just because Eminem thinks he's black doesn't mean he can play a boxer. No offense to him but I doubt he can pull off resembling a boxer in any way.

reply

Why would he? So he could match his voice with the soundtrack? Gyllenhal was perfect in this role.
