I hear her role is small, but memorable. Does anyone know what kind of character she plays?

Selena's character is supposed to be in a very agonizing situation, but the movie kind of gets away without showing the real emotional toll on her character.
Still, it's a worthy movie about one of today's biggest problems in America, with an unusual twist that you don't see in mainstream movies.

shareBit late replying but it's probably NOT Macy's way of thinking. It helps to read between the lines and apply how studios/producers work.
The studio or producers have essentially said that they want Gomez in the film and if Macy wants wider distribution (which costs the studio money) he has to put Gomez in the film. So it's the price he pays to get what he wants. What he said is his polite way of saying that he was persuaded or forced into it.
Why they insist on this could be for several reasons. My guess is that the studio want her for a certain film and she wants something more serious. They agree to get her into this film if she'll do the other one. It's all you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours in Hollywood. There was an interview with Michelle Pfieffer many years ago that said the same thing. She was interested in doing a little indie film and the studio wanted her for a bigger budget movie. She said that they'd agree to make the indie film if she starred in the bigger one. As it was the only way to get the indie one filmed, she agreed.
So, it's not necessarily about Gomez's name selling the film in Europe, but about the studio willing to back the film in Europe on the condition that she's included.
