Hadn't seen the first few minutes before, spooky
I've seen the movie a few times always about ten minutes in, so the scene of the son recording the "caught in a landslide" song in his dorm room felt like an eerie prequel to Crudup singing his later version, though, frankly, it did leave some questions.
He's interrupted recording the song, and later looks sulkily at the college bell tower. Does this really seem like the recipe for someone who's going to go on a killing spree? He obviously had music as an outlet for his feelings. Maybe if the kid who opened the door while he was recording had mocked his music it might give him a little more motivation. Oh, well, beautiful little movie.
