This movie couldve been ok if they'd just played the songs without selima randomly turning up TWO YEARS LATER to ruin the life of a man whose life was already ruined. What a cow.
This movie sucked. If the songs are good, no matter who wrote them they should be played.
Sam found redemption and a new understanding of his son through playing with Quentin. The movie plays us because we assume Josh was a victim, not the shooter and the contradiction between becoming a mass killer and the sensitivity and creative music he made is the crux of the story.
How our attitude changes when we realize Josh is the killer rather than a victim challenges us to consider how we understand or deal with RL shootings in America.
Great music throughout but if you listen to the last song that Sam sings solo you hear a desperate expression of despair.
