Ratings of the show that replaced it?

How's the ratings of that show that replaced it?

reply

The show that replaced it was a repeat so it's not a direct replacement. That's coming later, some kind of a talk show I think.

reply

Since the repeat did worse, I don't know why they didn't just play out the few remaining episodes of the Playboy Club.

Perhaps they're making more money with a repeat than with a new episode of The
Playboy Club?

reply

They are attempting to promote the replacement show with repeat viewing. They still believe in it, while they have given up on TPC.

The repeat show barely got any ratings and did a lot worse across the board. That time slot is like a suicide mission. You have 2 other shows Castle and Hawaii Five O that go after the same type of audience with similar type of show the hour drama. If they had wanted that show to have a chance, they should have put it at a more favorable time slot.

They may have figured it just wasn't worth keeping:

The ratings were low and declining. That happens with a lot of shows that get "saved," but The Playboy Club had this also against it:

1. Bad reviews(from what I could pick up)...it was not a critical fave like "Mad Men" or "Friday Night Lights."

2. Conservative groups hated it for being "filthy."

3. Liberal groups...particularly feminist groups as led by Gloria Steinem...hated it for being "sexist and demeaning of women."

It just wasn't worth the bad publicity from all sides.

And now its gone.

Which are two reasons I decided to give it try. However, while I didn't find it filthy, sexist or demeaning, I did find that it failed to entertainment me, and I quickly decided that it wasn't worth watching 'on principle' alone.

Apparently, dogs are wolves with Williams-Beuren Syndrome.

I guess there's just not any new programming that can compete with those "wholesome" reality TV shows. LOL

reply

Notice I used the word attempting.

I heard it was cancelled but did they stop airing episodes too? I can only watch it online and don't remember seeing a new episode out.

I know it wasn't an amazing series, but I kept watching to see if it got better and was getting a bit more interested in what was going to happen. Since it looks like there were so few episodes anyway I don't see the point in them not showing the remaining episodes. If it's going to get cancelled, at least show all the episodes for people who did want to keep watching. Showing a rerun of something people have watched before probably wont get many more viewers so I don't really see the point.
