Question about nudity.. and Amber Heard.

So I heard it was cancelled.. the only question for me remains..

Does Amber show anything ?
Does she have a sex scene, at least ?
Are there other sex scenes, not implying Amber ?

This being cancelled is such a disappointment. If it had 6 seasons, we probably would have seen a lot of Amber.

reply

Amber Heard is so hot, why didn't more people watch this show?

Amber was a major highlight of the show. Too bad...

She shows great cleavage.

This was airing on NBC,not on HBO or Showtime.
Micheal Jackson's sister's boob scandal pretty much
ended any chance of another NYPD blue coming
back to network television anytime soon.

Why?Were you watching the show?Apparently not
since you asked questions about what was in the
show!

Yes but no nudity even if the show would have lasted
10 years!

Who cares about Amber? She's an open lesbian with a long-term partner. Why are so many guys fascinated with women who by their nature have absolutely no interest in men? I'm glad the show has been cancelled. In 2011, The Playboy Club" is passe. Besides, they overdid the gay angle. During the very early 60s most gays were in the closet and kept their mouths shut. Their liberation movement didn't really begin until 1968.

Just a few million people.

So would you liked her better if you didn't know
she was a lesbian?

How about Neil Patrick Harris from How i met your
mother,do you have a problem with him?

Do you have a problem with the two gay characters
on Modern Family?

Have you banned The Lion King dvd in your house
because it features songs by Elton John?

Did you stop watching American Idol when Ellen
Degeneres was part of the show?

reply

1. I think most of the few million people who care about Amber are lesbians and stupid guys with fantasies of converting her.

2. Yes. She has that "in your face" attitude I can't stand.

3. No, because he plays his role as a straight womanizer for laughs and is not a pseudo-intellectual phony like her.

4. Not at all. They're real life gays who live their lives without exploiting their sexuality, unlike her.

5. Elton John is a songwriter and singer who does not push his sexuality whom I greatly enjoy. Did you avoid the Lion King because it was racist because the villain had a black mane and the hero had a red one? A liberal critic actually made that complaint.

6. Ellen DeGeneres is a very funny woman who does not appeal to adolescent fantasies of sex while pushing her real agenda with specious sociological arguments.

You obviously have me branded as a homophobe. I am not going on the defensive. Call me whatever you want. I'm ignoring you. I was simply pointing out the foolishness of a lot of immature young men drooling over a woman who is genetically wired not to care one tinker's dam about them, sexually. It's like a woman still mooning over the late Rock Hudson after he came out. What's the point? Show business is loaded with gay men and women. Do you actually think I don't know that?

reply

Prove it.
...and is not a pseudo-intellectual phony like her.
Is it Maureen or Amber Heard that you're claiming this about? If it's the former, how is Maureen playing the role of "pseudo-intellectual phony?"
I am not going on the defensive.

I'm not wildpeace10, but...this does not make sense. Ignoring the poster means that you're purposely limiting avenues for conversation.

Nice to know that you're a platinum card-carrying member of the elite fan police brigade. What do you care whom people like or don't like, irrespective of the actors' sexual orientation? Why is it any business of yours?_____~ I close my eyes lost in a memoryJust like a candle in the wind ~

reply

1. I don't have to prove anything. It just so happens that those two groups are the biggest fans of actresses like her.

2. I was referring to Amber, who boasts about reading Ayn Rand and George Orwell as her great intellectual influences.

3. I don't have to make apologies or get into proving negatives, which is impossible. I also don't want to get into endless debates. Right now TV and movies are loaded with sexy young actresses, straight and gay, most of whom will be forgotten in the next 5 years.

4. It's my business because when people post their opinions, they have to expect a response and sometimes those responses will be negative. People argue about who is or isn't a good actor/actress all the time. If Amber Heard is still around in 10 years, I'll admit I was wrong. See you then.

reply

Fair answers. Thank you for your responses.I suppose that the disconnect here lies on these two statements: 1)

the foolishness of a lot of immature young men drooling over a woman who is genetically wired not to care one tinker's dam about them, sexually
Why is it foolish? Are there folks whom are expecting this to be a two-way street? Who's actually expecting Amber Heard, or any other woman, to give a rat's behind about any of these men? She's not obligated to reciprocate towards aaaaaannnny of these people.X can like Y. It does not necessarily follow that Y has to like X.If people like Amber Heard whether she's gay, straight, or bi, so what? How about just letting them form an opinion, whatever that may be, and have 'em like whomever they like? If someone likes a person, then someone likes a person.2)
If Amber Heard is still around in 10 years, I'll admit I was wrong.
Wrong about what? Are you equating the value of a good actor/actress with career longevity? Does she suddenly become relevant to you if she's able to sustain a career for ten years?I have no intention for this to be a debate either because quite frankly, this is drifting towards off-topic matter, but I'm genuinely curious towards your answers to these._____~ I close my eyes lost in a memoryJust like a candle in the wind ~

Calm down, wildpeace10! Pmiano100 didn't say anything against gay actors or characters; he was just observing the irony of guys on this message board being interested in Amber when she would clearly never be interested in them. If guys in this forum found Neil, Elton, or Ellen to be attractive, then you would have a point. But instead, you're attacking pmiano100 for no reason!

From the beginning of the motion picture business, movie makers and audiences entered into an unwritten contract: members of the audience got to have sexual fantasies about the cast members. That meant that the overwhelmingly heterosexual members of the audience could fantasize about the leading players of the opposite sex. Men fantasized about women; women fantasized about men. Selling sexual fantasy turned a fledgling business into an international industry.

Early on, the movie studios realized that they would have to protect the public's perception about actors and actresses. In real life, they turned out to be all too human. Scandals were hushed up by studio publicity departments, and shadowy people known as fixers. Sometimes that meant concealing the sexuality of homosexual actors. The truth is that the public cherished its illusions and did not want the ugly truth to ruin the fantasy.

The movie studios and the reasonably intelligent actors who worked for them knew that they needed to preserve the illusion if they wanted to prosper. In today's world, cable television and the internet have made it virtually impossible to sell the same kind of illusion. However, much of the audience still wants that fantasy.

Heterosexual young men want to be able to fantasize about making love to the beautiful women that they see on the screen. Unfortunately, the dream is spoiled when the news breaks that the actress is a lesbian. Blame it on human nature. "Political correctness" will not change it.

The reality is that a lesbian character actress can have a long and prosperous career, since she is not the object of any young man's sexual fantasy. The same cannot be said for an ingenue, or a glamorous leading lady. Once the news breaks that a beautiful young actress is a lesbian, she is no longer really castable in big budget projects. The financial risk is just too great. The movie business is driven by the bottom line, not the cherished notions of the gay community.

She is actually a self-professed bi-sexual.

reply

Who cares? She's just another Hollywood phony glamorizing a lifestyle from the past that never was except in the minds of people who couldn't have it, the people Hefner exploited to get rich.

reply

The Mattachine Society, which is mentioned in the show, predates the 60s. It lobbied for the rights of homosexuals.

reply

Who cares? The show is gone and for now, so is she. The only thing she's on right now is the cover of a woman's fitness magazine. There's are dozens like her. Most will fade into oblivion or play supporting roles for the rest of their careers. I hope she's one of them, the pretensious psuedo-intellectual.

reply

No one shows anything. This was very mild, and not racy at all. There have been some sex scenes, but nothing out of the ordinary. You'd find these types of scenes on other network TV shows.I've heard that some of the actors/actresses signed nudity clauses, but there really wasn't much of anything on the show. There's no exposed chesticles or anything of the sort._____~ I close my eyes lost in a memoryJust like a candle in the wind ~

reply

I always assumed that they filmed some brief nudity for foreign syndication and an eventual unrated DVD.

Most of the world is less prudish then us about nudity, and the rest of the western world would expect some nudity in a show called The Playboy Club.

This has been done before—Highlander—had brief nudity when shown outside the U.S. And BBC America has to pixelate nudity in shows that aired in England.

reply

Outer Limits did that. They had different cuts for different markets. Alyssa Milano's episode for one.

reply

Yes, that makes sense, and probably was the plan for non-US markets._____~ I close my eyes lost in a memoryJust like a candle in the wind ~

Back in 1961, when I was a kid, the Playboy Bunny outfit was considered sexy and racy. Around the mid-60s, clubs started introducing topless waitresses (not that common anymore). Today pole-dancing strippers are legitimate entertainment and working men have the Hooters waitresses, bunnies for guys who aren't wealthy. Compaired to the bikinis of today, the bunny costume is a tent. What do we need the Playboy Club for in 2011?

reply

FACT: Amber Heard has been apart of a lot of duds lately. Whether she's a lesbian or not, she picks dumb roles.

My source is IMDB itself. Look up her bio. BTW, it's her pseudo-intellectual posing I find most offensive.

reply

[deleted]

The fact remains she has had the same female partner for years and you know full-well the gay and lesbian community is very anti-bisexual, claiming there is no such thing, and anyway I don't care. I am not wasting my time salivating over a phony sex symbol who has no sexual interest in men.

Her "unique" outlook is twisted and phony. I am proud I don't possess a shred of it. I am proud of my own, and my grammar is no worse than yours. You are a pretentious snob titillated by women who wouldn't look at you twice. If you share her outlook, you are as phony as her. PS: You are now on my ignore list because I have better uses for my time. Is that grammatical enough for you?

You, however, are a dirty old man who possesses neither intelligence nor class. Piss off now.

Wow...what is wrong with you people?! If somebody expresses their opinion on this public message board, and it happens to disagree with yours, you resort to name calling and assertions of homophobia?! Is this how you deal with confrontation--pulling out the race, gender, or sexual-orientation card until your opponent gets frustrated and leaves your well defended forum?!

reply

[deleted]

you are just so sad.

reply

I am not a dirty old man. I am a dirty middle aged man. While I proudly admit to having no class, at least I have the intelligence not to support a stupid program like "The Playboy Club." It's quick cancellation proves my point. BTW, telling someone to "piss off" does not demonstrate intelligence or class, you fecal encephalo.

reply

Wow, did everyone get hot and bothered on this one or what? It's just a TV show and they are actors/actresses. Who cares what their personal life is like? Can they act is the question. And can the writers write. The answers to those questions are somewhat subjective as people have different standards.

For me, I don't look at Rock Hudson, the real person, when I'm mooning over him. I'm looking at Rock Hudson, the actor and the character he is playing. I can admire a beautiful woman and find her attractive and not be a lesbian. Amber Heard has a beautiful body and that is true no matter whether you're straight, gay, man or woman. So the guys who are mooning over her don't care about the real Amber. Does that make us all shallow? You betcha. But it's also what the entertainment industry is betting on also.

Maybe another network will pick up the show as it has a lot of potential. There is the mob, rich snobs, politics, civil rights with murder and sex mixed in. I don't know what they were thinking cancelling the show. Maybe it's a decendant of that record executive who turned down the Beatles stating that guitar groups were going out of style. Maybe they should take a tip from the reality show "Undercover Boss" and find out what people really like.

reply

I considered the show dishonest. I thought it would be a fun program aboout the heydey of the Playboy Club. Instead I got the Mafia, murder, and the early days of the Gay Liberation Movement, none of which interested me in the least. I don't really care about the personal lives of actors until they spout off on causes I consider offensive, like their opinions mean anything more than mine.

I particularly hate the ones who profess to champion the poor while they spend money like water, use their "foundations" to launder their money so they can evade taxes, fire their help for trivial reasons, and throw their weight around with ordinary people. Then I boycott them, in the hope others will too.

Many of them accept praise and champion their shows with fans. When critics confront them, all of a sudden, it's,"It's just a TV show and I'm just an actor. I say what the writers tell me." I am very glad the show was cancelled, and I hope it never comes back anywhere. It was a lousy, boring, and ultimately predictable program.
