S8E4 - Deal Breaker

Very much enjoyed this episode. Just love looking at motorcades and military escorts. My beef is I don't think any president would risk going to such a mountainous/rocky/heavily forested terrain with such a small escort, especially with 2 presidents involved. They'd have AH-64 Apache's, CAS, thermals all over that place to detect heat presence etc. It'd be like Fort Knox.

I know this is television to bring excitement/thrill (which it did to some extent) since seeing the preview for the next episode looks like we'll be getting some nice close quarter battle. I just find it hilarious that an unguided RPG could still take down a UH-60 Blackhawk these days with the advancements made to them since Black Hawk Down and the likes. Also I am surprised those Blackhawks were only using old M240 machine guns rather than the more upgraded GAU-19 gatling guns we see today.

I found it all bit obvious and not tension-filled at all.

And we know who's really responsible, don't we?

reply

Who do you think was responsible, they say it's the Taliban. Probably Haqqani's son? The Pakistani ISI chick seemed shocked as the general from what I could tell so there may be a 3rd player involved perhaps? Maybe it'll be something we don't expect.

that's what I think. I thought that would be a storyline from the moment he was let go. and when this whole president visit ep began, I thought he'd come back into play to wreck things somehow. there's no other point to dwell on his situation in that extended scene with his father and after when he's picked up. it's not like they can bring him back in a later season down the road. he's a loose end in a final season. he goes with the hardliners who never wanted peace and those are the guys on the hill tonight and who fired the RPG last week. I hope I'm wrong for the sake of a more interesting season but I don't think so.
