Noah Baumbach's best film?

I really loved While We're Young, it might be my favourite of his films. Agree/disagree? Check out my review:

Tied for Squid and the Whale for me, but I agree with the director (who spoke at my film viewing) that it is his most accessible film. For that reason, I'm sure it will probably be his most successful as well.

Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love.

I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's as good as The Squid and the Whale or Francis Ha.

I don't think he'll ever come close to topping The Squid and the Whale. It's the only film of his that didn't feel like a shallow annoyance.

Do you have any talents?
Well, I'm an Alcoholic.

I disagree that While We're Young is your favorite Noah Baumbach film. You really like Fantastic Mr. Fox better - you just don't yet realize that you do.

This made me giggle. Well played. I didn't even see the OP's mistake.

Thanks. It's rare to find someone with a sense of humor on this site.

It was definitely one of my favorite Noah Baumbach films. While I pretty much love all his work, I wasn't that crazy about "Francis Ha". This was much better.

1. Squid and the Whale

6. While We're Young

I'd rewatch all of the above with the exception of WWY. I don't think it's interesting enough to warrant watching it more than once.

What a perfect list.

Citing NASA as experts on these matters is like citing the KK on matters of race relations.

Wasn't particularly bowled over by Margot at the wedding and though Greenberg was just odd.

Squid and the whale and Frances Ha for me

I'm glad I went but I wouldn't watch it again.

reply

My reaction exactly, glad we saw it but whoa, not nearly as good as we were expecting.

reply

IMHO, Kicking and Screaming. Followed by The Squid and the Whale.

Wow, if this is Baumbach's best film, thanks for the warning. I will now never check out anything else he's done. This film was terrible and has, however boring and disjointed, a terrible message. But then, this often happens when Hollywood runs out of ideas and begins to produce stories about itself. They can't all be actual funny, biting satire like The Player. HIs film reminds me of every song that every band who's been on tour for too long writes about how boring and tedious it is being on tour again for so long. Boo hoo.
