No wonder all the critics love this stuff. They're mostly elitist cosmopolitan hipsters like Ehrlich and Zacharek who love mumblecore and pretentious improvisation exercises from characters who are just like them and only like them.

Way to pander to your critic mom and the Criterion people. No surprise the critics crowd is mostly well-off and fashion themselves as progressive, despite having so few non-white writers among them.

why don't you go ask Scorsese how many movies they will make about middle class white Italian Americans? Ask Spike Lee how many movies he will make about middle class African Americans. Ask Woody Allen how many movies he will make about New Yorkers.

You come off as hateful, jealous and silly. No wonder you are frustrated, you can't even come up with an intelligent critique.

Whatever your point is my only advice is to cut back on your scorn for artistes who work really hard and put their heart out for their projects.

Apart from the white elitist focus Noah seems to have, you simply do not have any arguments. That makes it a callous critique my friend.

I sat through the whole movie in spite of the pain. Previews are usually worse than the movie; this was an exception. Characters one could not care less about, unbelievable situations and actions topped only by silly and noisome situations and actions.

"middle class white hipsters going through petty crises" No, it's uninteresting middle class hipsters having uninteresting petty crises that no one could actually care about.

What a waste.

Kicking and Screaming was a masterpiece. I also roar with laughter every time I think of Jeff Daniel's work in The Squid and the Whale. While We're Young was dreadful, though.

Kicking and Screaming is my favorite Baumbach flick as well, and I kinda gave up on him after "Greenberg". I hate to think that the college graduates in K&S turned out to be any of the Gen X "slipsters" (Slacker Hipsters) he seems 100% focused on these past 10 years.

K&S was wonderful in its exploration of post tween angst after college was over and the feeling of apprehension you feel when you're not sure of yourself but have a whole lot of future ahead of you. While We're Young is more of the same compartmentalized midlife crisis melodrama Noah can't seem to shake off in his own life it seems.
