Three things I liked about the movie
1. Mathew Maher who played the editor, a bald lisping polite man of a few words who got impatient with Ben Stiller. He was so great, I almost hope they make a spin-off movie with his character. Better yet, make an HBO show that features his character.
2. A barely recognizable Adam Horovitz from The Beastie Boys played his role nicely in a low-key manner. I guess I still see him as he was in the 1980s. I wouldn't mind seeing him in other movies or television shows. He would do well playing a hip understanding father on a sitcom. The woman who played his wife basically played the same type of character she played on Orange is the New Black, though.
3. Yes, the Shaman was an a-hole. The scene where he gives a disgusted look at Ben Stiller was great. He couldn't hide his disdain at Stiller for letting some of the drink dribble down the side of his neck. I watched that scene a few times.
Overall, a good, funny, fast-paced movie. My favorite Noah Baumbach movie is still Kicking and Screaming, but this one ranks right next to The Squid and the Whale and Greenberg. He's first rate and in some ways underrated. I am glad he gets to make movies.
