Peter Yarrow as Ira Mandelstam.

I don't know how many even took notice of Peter Yarrow playing old Ira Mandelstam (being interviewed for the documentary) but he is the Peter of the hit 1960s folk group "Peter, Paul, and Mary".

For those curious here is a link to one of their old favorites from the 60s.

I did recognize him. He seems to always be on PBS, either promoting a documentary about Peter, Paul, and Mary, or discussing the history of folk music. PBS loves Peter, Paul, and Mary.

I was a teenager and young adult in the 1960s. We had lots of great music back then and P, P & M were one of my favorites. I loved their sound, their harmonies, their often playful lyrics.

In the mid-1980s they were in town performing and I managed to get good tickets near the stage, the first time I had ever seen them live. The ca. 25 years had not been kind to them, either in their looks or their sound. But I enjoyed it anyway, we all look and sound different as we age and they will always be one of the great groups of that time.

I'm around your age, I guess, born in 1947, so I was about 14-15 when I discovered PP&M, and became a super fan.

I was crazy about their sound, and their look at that time. I thought Mary was beautiful.

I saw them in concert many times over the years, the first time in 1963. I was so excited. Again, in 1964 and then sporadically over the years, as we all aged.

The last time was a year or two before Mary passed away, that brief time when they did a few concerts after her illness.

I agree with you that they looked very different as they got old, and their sound wasn't as good either. That was sad, as they harmonized so beautifully together.

I guess Paul faired the best in the looks department as he aged, because he looked old even when he was in his twenties.

I've never been a bigger fan of any singer/singers as I was of them, I don't know why. They really had a sort of magic for me when I was a young teenager, growing up.
