Half of a really good movie...

I really enjoyed the first half of this movie and the issues presented. Once they went to the purge party, the whole movie tanked. The scenes at the tribute dinner were beyond ridiculous.

Stiller and Watts and Grodin and Chloe did their best with what they were given. Part of the problem is that I really disliked Adam Driver in another movie (This is Where I Leave You), and I allow my total distaste for him in that movie to carry over.

It was uneven.

I thought at the tribute dinner it actually made Grodin out to be a hypocrite and his acceptance speech to be a tissue of lies. There is no truth it is all manipulation.

It's that man again!!

I agree. The first half was pretty good, but once it was revealed that Jamie was some manipulative douchebag the whole movie went off the rails.
