the very brief "The Last Supper" scene.

When the pizzas are delivered to the long table and people gather around it to eat, immediately they take positions very close to what we see in the most famous "Last Supper" painting. Then it is gone.

Does anyone know, or care to speculate, if this had any particular purpose in advancing the story or was it just a quirky visual thrown in for fun?

My wife didn't care to view this movie after the first few minutes, it isn't her type of movie. But I later paused the picture at that point and called her over and asked what she saw. She immediately said "The Last Supper" so I am sure most viewers had the same reaction.

Well, Owen Wilson's character does "return from the dead" after all, so he is kind of like a junkie Christ figure. Anyway, the last supper thing was taken straight from the book.
