Cannot stand this, nothing interesting is happening and seemed too pretentious
My devil danced with his demon and the fiddler tune is far from over.

Great time to shut it off. Awesome job. 10/10 post.

Don't judge a film if you haven't finished it
Howard Hughes was Italian?
It's not a movie for lazy entertainment or checking phone messages during. Definitely Not for everyone, but it's rewarding if you watch it all the way through...and then again. But if you are looking for a clear narrative with everything spelled out for you, this is not the film for you. If you don't understand anything about mind control, the 70s, corruption/cults, you won't get a thing from it.
shareThis.
Inherent Vice is based on a Pynchon novel which means that you have to be in a certain mood and pay attention when you watch it.
This film is not for the casual movie goer.
How dare you

You could say the same about The Master, but I thought that was miles better than this.

Nice
shareI almost did the same but am glad I didn't. All of the buildup at the beginning actually pays off nicely in the final 1/3 of the film. I was sufficiently intrigued that I'm going to give it another watch.

Agreed. I was bored to tears at this point but stuck with it simply because it was PTA. It didn't improve. Really, the only part I liked was the very beginning.

So...you didn't finish it. Therefore, your opinion is null and void.
shareI think that is about the time I stopped watching it--right after the rate of new character introductions seemed to ratchet up maddeningly and then there was that restaurant scene where they ordered ridiculous things (guess if you like Pynchon, you might have found it humorous) and the server says "You'll want to get good and fked up before you eat that" just like any server would, of course.
I was just thinking for the longest time up until then that the only aim of this movie was to confuse you. Now it was going totally Dada.
I never bought for a second a shabby pot-smoking hippie in 1970 would have access and apparent respect in police headquarters or city hall, or whatever city building that is where he had his office.
Now, learning in a previous post here that it was from a Pynchon novel, I know I made the right decision.
