To be fair, they did make very good Star Trek movies without captain Kirk.

OK, but Jack Sparrow IS the lead of the original. His absence from this one directly parallels my comparison to Kirk's, wherein your comparison is irrelevant, because it isn't an equal comparison.

Seriously, the first two films were fun, and then there were three horrible messes that nobody needed to see. We don't need a 4th horrible mess.
