Liked it, but the chase at the end was a bit much

When the hitman and his buddy see the ceremony and the girl sacrificed then start blasting away at the cult members--all of which was apparently done with knowledge that the two hitmen were present and watching--I found it somewhat of a stretch to believe a bunch of naked, mostly unarmed people would keep running after people shooting at them with firearms and mowing them down in bunches. Just a conservative estimate, but it seems like at least a dozen of them got wasted (that's including the wife's shooting, too, as she takes out some). For such an elaborate plan, seems like quite a big sacrifice to lose a third of your cult just to enact some ritualistic spousal deathmatch.

I know what you mean. The tone of this last act veered out of control for me. All the work in creating a disturbing and enigmatic story was undone by the lack of restraint shown at the end. Almost as though the director felt the need to include something that was more traditionally 'horror movie'. Disappointing.

I disagree completely. Not disappointing at all. Refreshing.

Yeah, it's crap. They had at least one automatic rifle and several other guns between them and they could have easily picked off all the flabby cultists before they got much nearer than the 100m away they started out from. It would be a bit of a slap in the face of the cultists to go through all that planning only to be wiped out at the end due to misjudging the firepower.

I absolutely agree, the fact they throw their lives away with wild abandon just seems ridiculous.
