It is interesting how some women profit from this exploitative model and it's something I've always found fascinating. I suppose the difference is that they are still portrayed differently compared to the men, even the dumb men who are in entertainment and who wouldn't be chemists otherwise. I guess if you see what is profitable you will go for it, plus a lot of the time you have a choice between sexualising yourself and giving up your job, if you legitimately want to do acting or singing or newscasting or whatever. But it doesn't matter - women who are trying for other careers (e.g. politics) are horribly torn down and even comes back to their appearance anyway, when it shouldn't. Anyway, it's not to do with "blaming men", it's more to do with why this happens and how we can improve things. It's for everyone's benefit.
It's also got nothing to do with good-looking people. Obviously companies will use good-looking people in ads, men and women. The difference is in the portrayal of the women. Did you see the ad in the movie, I think it was for chips, where the man had the packet of chips and suddenly the clothes blew off a woman in the street? And she was standing there in fancy lingerie trying to cover herself up - she wasn't even happy to be in her underwear, she was ashamed and this was meant to be funny and make people want to buy chips? Nothing to do with being good-looking, she was just some sort of object, the man was not naked and he was portrayed as powerful and consuming the product. That's the difference.
I guess you're proving the point when you say things like "women who don't have the looks to be on tv or women who are ageing". Most of the women spoken to are or were in the public eye, so they have been on tv plenty, it's not like they're jealous. Others are still on tv and not particularly attractive (imho), like Rachel Maddow. Then there are traditional sex symbol ones like Rosario Dawson and did you see the woman who made this film? She's not exactly unattractive.
Sigh...atheists are usually sensible about these things, come on
