Great theme, but...

I totally loved the existential theme in this movie. The acting was good and I do love myself some Paul G. (Hello, Sideways?), but I couldn't help but notice that, possibly because of the intended target audience, this movie was set back a few decades when it comes to sexism. Now maybe I just free based some soy sauce and tumbled back a few dozen years, whose to be sure, but please don't tell me that the only female role is a handless damsel. Just saying... I didn't hose the producers with a crap score but Cumon, really? I'm a gal from Texas. Give me some female something! Sheesh

Read the book. The character of Amy is really fleshed out. Though she does still kind of play the damsel part, she is more pivtol to the story. And you know she is necessary in many ways. She also doesn't just need to be saved, she makes up the third part of the trio (John, David, and Amy). The book is way better anyways. The movie doesn't even cover a quarter of the book. If you even slightly enjoyed the movie, I sugest reading the book. Way more insite on the characters.

They don't really need to save her, she's just left out of the final battle.
