They butchered the book

shareI always tell people the movie is like what you read on the back of the book and is only a fraction of the overall story. I think they did a great job telling The Las Vegas story to a degree, but felt the book would be more appropriate as a TV mini-series. The sequel would make a better movie as its one contained story whereas JDATE is 3 massive stories. I read the book after I saw the movie and luckily the book wasn't ruined for me at all after watching the movie. Its a fun movie and to properly adapt the book the movie would be 8 hours long. I really want a This Book is Full of Spiders movie, it would be harder to miss the mark (so to speak). I think the movie is a. great appetizer for the book, and im glad it was made so I could discover my all time favorite book (I've read it six times cover to cover and pick it up and read from old dog eared pages every few weeks).
shareI wish there were more books like the ones in this series.
shareYes...they just erased few "main" characters...what we see in the movie is actually 1/4 of the book.
shareI totally disagree. Loved the book and I loved the movie. I think a lot of people who read, have unrealistic expectations when books are made into movies. Books just have WAY to much to put into a feature length movie so a lot has to be left out. Movies are by nature, the Reader's Digest film version of the book.
