What was with the banner with Owens pic?!
shareHe was being welcomed to the country by the company he worked for. The company he worked for was seen as stealing the countries water, hence the running around the hotel looking for workers of that company.

shareOwens' company was given control over water supply. Owens believed that it was for the best, cause he thought that his company will improve water systems, but natives were suspicious of company's intentions. They saw it as a theft of their country's natural resources.
shareThe government was given a loan they could never pay back to build infrastructure in the country. One of those things was a water plant. When the Government of that country couldnt pay back the loan the water plant was repossessed for lack of a better term. At that point it was then sold to a company that would then charge the government more money/or charge the people for clean water.
Like a bank that gives you a mortgage so you can renovate your house, but screws you on the interest rate and you cant pay it back so the bank gets your house and the renovation work you did for nothing. And you still need to pay back the mortgage.
