Killing their own people

Ok, I get the natives were angry and rioting, killing americans and *beep*

BUT

Most of them killed their own people, even going to the extent of destroying an office filled with hardworking people because Owen MIGHT have been there. Also, hotel staff man!

That got my gears grinding!

What do you thing about it ?

reply

I didn't think they killed all of those people just because of Owen. In my interpretation those natives getting killed are the Wallstreet guys of Thailand working for big companies, probably even foreign companies and are therefore also targeted as traitors by these radical extremists. ISIL/ISIS, a radical Islam extremists group are known to target mosques. A place of worship of their own kind. It's like Catholics bombing churches. These people don't see color of the skin anymore. Logic has been thrown outside the window. So back to the movie, these radical Thais would probably kill all the people inside capitalist businesses or operating near one. They wanted to give the country back to the people because all of these businesses are making the rich people rich yet the poor stay poor. It might be hard for westerners to understand this but on third world countries, hunger is one hell of a motivator to kill. Less hungry people, Less Crime.

Well said! Some people on here have also overlooked the assassination at the start comes 17 hours after the events of the film. Once the police are soundly beaten the rebels take their fight to places where the foreigners are residing. Someone in the crowd whips up a fuss about 'blood for water' (I think that was the phrase used) and there's your excuse to kill all the foreigners. The violence does seem to be linked to Jack's company as Hammond tells him how the West enslave the East with debts they will never pay back. But at this point, once the police are no longer in the picture, anarchy reigns! The violence directed towards their own people suggests a deep seated resentment had been building, perhaps by class divisions, financial prospects or individual reasoning. Like you put it though, hunger is a killer in more ways than one.

Wow! you dont have a clue how a revolution works.
Those hard working people were government employees, so they suffer the consequences, they had to die.
Thats how that kind of people thinks.
