Reason for the revolution

In the movie they say the revolution started because the evil corporations built a water treatment facility and when the country couldn't pay back the loan they took control of it.

Talk about making your eyes roll its one of the biggest piece's of lib propaganda that I've ever seen. Taken right from the leftist playbook *beep* cultures are that way because the west keeps them there. Not because of the culture and the people who make up the country. Of course these people can't be crazy far left communist's they were driven to that because the evil west (whitey) made them.

Even going by their logic the country wouldn't have a water treatment facility without the evil corporations who put up their own money to build it. They also gave them the terms of the loan. So that would imply that the Asian government is too stupid to understand if they can afford a loan or not. Then say they can't afford a loan and the "evil" corporation owns the water treatment facility they built. It means that you have to go around killing everyone who provides services to wealthy westerns who visit your country? Yeah because if an "evil" corporation owns a water treatment facility it leads people to desperate acts. (sarc)

Well said
I thought it was especially rich how the pierce brosnon character said not to blame those rioting - they are just like you and your family. This after scene after scene of graphic violence including rape, murder, and beating and hacking people to death including those from their own country, not just the evil westerners

What a lame effort and politically correct bunch of nonsense

reply

Spot on. I absolutely loved the movie, as well as Pierce Brosnan's character, but that bit was just idiotic. It's not that there aren't legitimate criticisms in regards to some of those things (water rights, IMF, etc), but to suggest some justification for the rebel actions is ridiculous. There were engaged in the mass slaughter of nearly every civilian they came across, regardless of whether they were Western or not.

In terms of inserting their politics into the movies, Hollywood just can't help themselves...

time to get out of your momas' basement, guys.

...that's it? No actual response to anything said? No counter-argument? Nothing?

I know to expect absolutely nothing from internet message boards, but still...

Some people just get bored with explaining common sense to others. If you didn't come up with the same regurgitated argument then people might think you were capable of absorbing information. But, as the dude said, you are blinkered and refuse to be rational or open-minded (basement dweller much?), why should they or anyone else waste time trying to explain cultural differences when your brain's record function is set to off - And you have no interest in fixing that?

As to the OP I can't believe someone can't comprehend such a simple concept, especially since prior to the 50's and 60's almost every single south American country was effectively ran by a single US or European company specialising in either bananas, nuts, coffee or something else we desired. I suppose that makes it easier to see why those ignorant of history and how the world has worked up until this point are the same people ignorant of politics and how people worked up until this point - once we saw them as people who had their head in the sand, now we just call them basement dwellers. Or Republicans if they are American basement dwellers.

Makes sense now that I think about it...

So because the country was so called corrupt so everyone has to die? Your propaganda spin isn't what was told in this movie. The country took a loan for a corporation to build water treatment plants. The country signed a loan and didn't pay it back now it's the so called greedy companies fault. So there's no personal reasonability of a nation to understand the terms of a loan and if they can pay it back or not. But of course not your from the school of thought that evil whitey is the root cause of all the evil in the world. No they just brought drinkable water to the country and wants them to hold up to the terms of the loan. Buy you're right the water bill is a little higher so lets go kill everyone who is white, rich, or works for the rich.

Looks like somebody read some Howard Zinn *beep* or a communist manifesto. Then you bring up people living in Mommy's basement. But that's what I expect from the leftist hypocrites they claim to care for the poor while they use their lifestyles as a joke.

reply

Agree, all these knee jerk libs, Howard Zinn reading idiots...

Pierce Brosnan's little speech on the roof top ruined the film.

reply

Yeah it was a bunch of leftist dogma, but I enjoyed the movie for its suspense and Owen Wilson's performance.

Utah! Get me two.

I didn't take the explanation for the revolution as political message, they just wanted to say they had their reasons to be angry and that they also thought of their families.

The film doesn't imply they were right on doing what they did just said they had their reasons just like the Iranians in Argo.

It was wrong to take innocent people from the embassy and being so obsseed with revenge but they also had their motives.
They were angry since the US was protecting a dictator and they didn't like he wouldn't be able to be judged becasue the US goverment were protecting him just because he was sick.

You still sympathize with the guys who escaped from the American Embassy and you want the mission to succed even if the Iranians had their motives to be angry.

Its the same case here the film exposes the revolutionist motives but that doesn't mean they are telling us they were right

"The film doesn't imply they were right on doing what they did just said they had their reasons just like the Iranians in Argo."

Not the way I took it Wilson was the cliché ignorant American part of the problem. Brosnan was in the "know" and his guilt was suppose to imply that they were right in what they did. The movie was trying to paint what Brosnan did for a living as evil.

"they did just said they had their reasons"

Them even trying to justify it is bs. You can't even try to justify murdering everyone that appeared rich, was western, or work in businesses that catered towards the western's.

Sweet cheeses you people are utterly friggin braindead; the film is based on the ideas of REAL LIVE HONEST TO GOD FACTUAL book called Confessions of an Economic Hitman. This has IN FACT and ACTUAL REALITY been the US foreign policy based on corporate greed since the inception of the CIA.

When the ugly comment with their idiotic politically charged bilge it only makes sense to politely suggest they educate themselves before total embarrassment ensues as a result of their stereotypical American arrogance and ignorance, if they're not utter cowards, of course.

To save you sad people time and effort I will provide an easy to follow link to the book:

http://resistir.info/livros/john_perkins_confessions_of_an_economic_hit_man.pdf

However, due to the fact that you love your self-imposed prisons of ignorance I am certain you will fail to educate yourselves even with the tiny bit of knowledge this book would provide.

Murika *beep* yeah!

reply

"self-imposed prisons of ignorance"
Try again. The people in the government know the terms of the deal. You don't take a loan you know you can't pay back. Regardless of political beliefs that's a plain fact but of course I'd assume you expect the corporation to build infrastructure and just give it away.
