the mom crying when the little girl had to pee in her pants?

they were shot at, people died around them - some in horrific fashion, and jumped off a roof to avoid being butchered, but she cried when her little girl had to pee in her pants? Am I the only one who thought that was the most laughable part of the movie?

She wasn't just crying about the urinating.

But it probably caught up to her how bad of a situation they were in, and how much their lives had changed.

I agree

She was crying because she was heartbroken for her little girl. And there was nothing she could do to help her.

She was crying over her little girl feeling humiliated and that their situation had gotten so bad they were forced to behave like animals.

reply

Exactly. She was told when she was young that only babies do that because they don't know much. The mom cried because she felt the little girl shattering. I mean she's not Peter Griffin who's gonna laugh at Meg for wetting herself. For a mom to ask her daughter to throw away her dignity to survive is just heartbreaking for any parent. If there's anything comedic about peeing in this movie it's probably that nobody else peed except for the little girl. If you're gonna make one character pee make sure everyone else pee at one point.

It makes a lot more sense if you have kids, IMO. The situation they were in, feeling trapped, helpless, and seemingly nothing she can do for her kids. I'm a dad of a 2-year old and if I was in that situation, I would probably be crying too. We do anything to give our kids better lives than our own, and it hurts when you can't help.

And you want to be my latex salesman...

Yup, what he said :)

There were many stupid moments in that movie. It was more like a ride in the Silly House than an actual story.

I didn't think it was laughable, no. BTW, the girl said she had to go "potty", which means #2, not pee.

reply

Yep, that's what I understood. The fact that she soiled her pants was never resolved in the remainder of the film so I had to chuckle regularly when I realized that she made it through with crapped pants.

How about in reality....after all of that chaos....she would have already peed her pants!!

It absolutely broke my heart as a mom. Especially the baby part. My little girl always says so proudly "I'm not a baby I'm a big girl."

I think the part that makes one so emotional about it is the innocence that is a child. In all that horror she is still small enough to think something as simple as only babies go in their pants.
