Shouldn't it be FISTS of Stone?

Forgive me if me boxing lore is a bit off, or if this has been discussed before...

But Roberto Duran was known as "FISTS of Stone" , not "HANDS of Stone"? Can anyone shed some light on whether this is correct? I'm sure there was probably a copyright or trademark issue, so they changed it to a synonym... so that is not the issue I am asking about.

he was nicknamed "Manos de Piedra" ("Hands of Stone") during his career.

Also dont sound right fists of stone
Hands of stone sounds quality

Correct! Even though in boxing you fight with your fists, Duran's main nickname was "Manos de Piedra" which translates literally as Hands of Stone, due to his power punch. People started to call him that way because it was like "his bones were made out of stone".

His other and more friendly nickname is "El Cholo", but it has nothing to do with boxing... :P

P.S: I live a couple of blocks from Duran, here in Panama.

He had another nick name as well "No Mas" :)

I would love to see what Duran did in between fights before he started to train for a fight.

He would balloon up to 185 lbs that is fat for a guy his size. He would eat and eat and eat some more.

Mostly good humor bars.

That's just how they did it back then. Look at Julio César Chávez how would routinely get drunk before fights and fight with massive hangovers. Yet he still went on to become one of the greatest fighters of all time.
