Cloyne - klüne -clown
So is all the stuff about clowns in the film made up for the film then? I mean the folklore?

shareI thought clowns were based off the Jester? And the folklore behind the first Jester, was that he was actually a psychopath, his "humorous" ways of degrading and killing peasants was the highlight of his job. (I can't remember where I read this sorry) And it could just be another made up thing lol.
shareGoing by everything I've ever heard about Scandinavian folklore, it's 100% pure Eli Roth imagination. There are some pretty scary creatures in there, I still want someone to make a good Neck http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neck_(water_spirit) or Hulder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulder movie (though I guess Thale sort of covers the latter), but no baby-eating clowns. The mere fact that it's "Cløyne" with a C, which isn't really used in the Nordic languages except in loanwords, is a pretty big giveaway.
There is a rather shady record producer/businessman/populist politician called Bert Karlsson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bert_Karlsson, though.
This part reminded me of the movie "Rare Exports" and also an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures about clowns and the Pied Piper.
