Great premise, dull movie

There’s no clear indication of what the film is going for — the premise lends itself to pitch-black comedy, but the result is never funny. Nor is it straight-up scary. Instead, Clown tumbles its way to a bloody conclusion at a snails pace, daring us to care. The body horror is a nice touch, and suitably nasty, but Clown doesn’t do enough with it to make any sort of impact. Also not helping matters are the performances — Powers seems less horrified by his transformation and more peeved, and Allen fails to sell her panic and fear, as well as a third-act twist on her character’s motivations that should be intriguing — but isn’t: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/clown/
