What was up with him constantly trying to drive a wedge between his daughter and his son-in-law? I couldn't get over the super creepy incest vibes he was giving off.

Yeah, that made no sense considering the daughter's husband came across as good guy with what little was shown.

I might be remembering this wrong but when we see them interact in the movie Kent came home dressed as a clown and had someone tied up in the back of his car. I'd probably be in the same mindset when in came to Kent as the grandfather.

Kent showed everyone the shoulder injury first. He showed the tied up man in the car after they followed him outside and after his explanation.

He says at least once that the husband isn't home enough to take care of the wife, their kid, etc. The grandpa came over and built the kids toy or something because the dad was too busy. We don't know the entire backstory, but it's implied that it's because hes not around enough.
