It's easy to give an outraged answer "No! I would never do that!" but when it comes down to it, if the choice was between some kid you didn't know and a loved one, I suspect a lot of people would find a way to justify giving them the kids - terminally ill kids like in the movie, or homeless kids who "would have died soon anyway", or straight up bad kids who "had it coming"... That would be an interesting way for a sequel to go - have the wife of the protagonist be totally on board with feeding the demon from the start!

I'd probably try to find a kid who does violent and thuggish things. The kind that's unlikely to grow up and always go down the wrong path. I remember a lot of those guys my age when I was a kid. I don't know what the fu*k Meg was thinking trying to feed a little girl so kind and sweet to the demon.

I'd have turned to Jack (the son) and said "Ok, well... Who else bullies you at school, son?"
Kill two birds with one stone. One less bully to worry about and you satiate the demons hunger. Easy.
