Actually not that bad once the carnage starts
I enjoyed it. It was pretty entertaining. The rape scene was unnecessarily gratuitous but the gore was effective and I really liked the ending.

I thought the buildup just wasn't right for this movie anyway. You're right, it really is two different movies, I preferred the second half although the ending is so predictable, I wasn't sure whether I love it or hate it :dunno:
sharewell, i am not sure what exactly to make of this, but IMDB states eli roth as the writer and two other people as the script writers. taking this in consideration, that is not a flaw, it is one of the basic elements of every eli roth story. he uses half the film to introduce the characters, so that weither or not you like them, you somewhat care for their destiny.
