ROCKED
This movie rocked.
A lot of people don't understand Eli Roth's being a grindhouse, exploitation film lover and the "ethos" of that type of filmmaking (besides, anyone who has seen his HOSTEL movies should know NOT to expect a Soderbergh psychodrama - catch my irony here as some of you know Soderbergh directed a fiasco of a disaster film with CONTAGION, a disaster movie without action & smothered in the cloak of a Bergman psychodrama).
AFTERSHOCK was totally entertaining. The characters were all so appealing (they weren't your usual repellent dumb teens) that I didn't want any of them to die -but I knew that was going to be part of the "fun" later in the ride. The international cast & the songs gave it a somewhat 80s feel to it (I grew up watching all the 70s & 80s grindhouse - horror - genre movies back in the day).
This is why I can't wait to see Eli Roth's take on the cannibal/jungle genre with his upcoming "THE GREEN INFERNO" project.
