Piss funny:)
Film had a nice dark sense of humour and made all it's characters suffer.
I wouldn't say it was brilliant, it felt really B grade. But for a black humoured, inventive horror it was fun.

Burn Eli BURN!!!! He betrays his sense of honour, allowing a rape to occur, and gets set on fire.
I think he was taking the piss out of himself and his films, just in a horror sense.
Yeah, that surprise grim ending was a doozy.

They missed the perfect shot to end the film on—when the survivor chick was laughing maniacally and the blue, ocean horizon was out of focus behind her. The horizon line, along with the roar of the surf, could have started rising at an ever-increasing rate, then she turns around and WHAM—600 MPH wall of water.
Heck, they could have saved a bit of the FX budget and avoided the only FX shot in the movie that was glaringy amateurish.
Surprise ending?? Really? I spent the last 30 minutes waiting for that damn tsunami that was repeatedly mentioned. Finally she escapes and sees the ocean and it GD obvious what was coming next. That surprise was about as unexpected as the psycho-maniac rising from a presumed, fatal stab to the shoulder. I don't think anything surprised me in this movie other than a preponderance of dead babies and Roth dying 2/3 into the movie. Oh, and maybe the fireman's reveal, but that was just stupid.
shareAs soon as she hit the beach, you just knew that ending was coming. Too bad the CGI at that moment sucked monkey nuts though. Aside from that, I also didn't mind this for the most part, however I just had too much of a problem with the fireman(prisoner) going ballistic there when he really didn't have to which was totally out of character up till that point. Overall though, I gave it a 6 on here but more like a 5.5 if it was possible with the decimal points.
