Can someone explain the ending?

*SPOILERS-sort of

The movie made me afraid of possibly having to live through a large earthquake even though in our country I don't think that things would be over run by the gangs walking the streets. I loved the movie all the way throughout, maybe just because I'm a huge fan of Eli Roth but at the end when they showed the mans tatoos I felt like there was some sort of significance to that. But being a pot head I didn't recall anything from earlier in the movie that connected. Was that man a part of the gang that was looking to rape the women or did he just decide to suddenly take advantage of the situation? Please explain (:

The tattoos were a sign of being a prisoner. If you remember when pollo got shot by the single mother because the old guy opened the gate for them. They had tried to say they were not prisoners by showing that they didnt have tattoos. However that guy had only shown other parts of him like his stomach I think but we hadnt seen his arms until that point at the end.

****SPOILERS****

That guy was an escaped prisoner like the others, but he had disguised himself as a fireman. He was not a pack-roaming rapist like the others but more of a solo serial killer type, which is why he didn't strike until the odds were clearly in his favor.

You guys are missing a great change to mess with a stoner.
OP, what really happened in the end was that even though all the gang members died, they found themselves floating up to heaven on a cloud of ganja goodness, with flying unicorns all around them. Right before the Pearly Gates, there was a 7/11, where they got Big Gulps, Cheetos, and Orios. It was amazing.
