THIS WAS AWESOME

i dont know what all the hate is about. this movie is EPIC.

this is a movie best seen without seeing any trailers. just go into it and its a thrill ride.

its essentially a regular horror movie where people drop off one by one, but the way it happens is insane.

LOVE the set up. LOVE that it appreciates the city and appreciates its characters enough to build them up so we care about them. When the first guy got his hand cut off.....OMFG I WAS TRIPPING! When the chick from the wine place died all quick I was like YOOOOOOO this is intense!!!

LOVE the writing, actually. Love how they set up everything VERY cleverly, all the way to the baby catacombs and the huge payoff ending.

its basically a zombie movie.

so many shock, inventive ways of messing with people.

now, they dragged on too much with the bad guys, but I really really appreciated this movie.

I once met Eli Roth at Hostel showing. Im black and he tried to get at my red head white girl date. It was amusing. I trashed Hostel because I thought it was way too much. But this? The right touch. If I saw him again Id give him daps for this one. Well acted, great setting, nice pacing. Well done work by all involved.

Lopez directed the hell out of this.

This is brillant. I laughed through out the whole movie. Its a black comedy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The wickedly funny black humor, startling moments of extremely graphic over-the-top gore, and take-no-prisoners nihilistic attitude gave it an extra fierce bite.

The earthquake scene was an absolute joke.

More time, effort, money and camerawork was put into 1972's The Poseidon Adventure than this cr@pfest.

The reason this was such a great little gem of a film is that they kept breaking the rules.
They kept killing off characters who, in any ordinary film, would have been off-limits.

(SPOILERS)
When the guy loses his hand early on, you know something strange is up. He was introduced as one of the main characters at the very beginning of the film, and here they are inflicting a probably-fatal injury on him before the film is even halfway over. That never happens in films.

They continue doing stuff like that (like the VIP guy who gets crushed in the club during the initial earthquake), even to the point of killing off the fcking star (Roth) when the film still has plenty of time left to run.

Even to the couple of twists at the end.
(The very last one you kind of couldn't have missed would be coming because they had given hints about it earlier on.)

Brilliant.
