Best Feminism Critique

If you try to focus on too many things besides the one main idea of your movement--in this case, feminism is about equality for the sexes--then your movement will implode.

This happened to feminism. Nobody takes it seriously anymore because it's trying to be an umbrella movements for every other single idea, they're trying to retrofit a feminist view on everything. That's why you get feminists siding with an abusive husband over the wife because of skin color or culture. It's crazy.

This also happened with atheism. Feminists tried to hijack the atheism movement by making it about everything else. Atheism is one thing: the disbelief in theism. That's it. The atheism movement has since improved because all the whack jobs were identified and logic prevailed. The same can't be said about feminism.

The funny thing is Portlandia is a sacred cow in some places so reviewers who typically would be "calling out" the show are mum. Or maybe they don't even see it, which is worse. Or maybe the show gets a pass because Candace and Toni were feminists before the blogosphere was.

Either way: hilarious.
